Crane Pendant Cable
Flexible Control Cable for Cranes & Hoists
Reliable control transmission for demanding lifting and material-handling applications.

What Is Crane Pendant Cable?
Crane pendant cable is the flexible control cable that hangs from an overhead crane or hoist and carries the operator's push-button signals back to the control panel. Unlike fixed installation cable, it spends its working life in motion — travelling with the crane, flexing at the pendant station, and taking its own weight in tension — so the construction is built around repeated movement and strain relief rather than around a fixed conduit run.
Choosing a Pendant Cable Construction
The first decision is round versus flat. A round pendant cable carries one or more galvanized steel support wires laid inside the jacket alongside the conductors, so the steel takes the hanging load and the copper cores never carry tension. That is the right construction wherever the pendant station hangs free from the crane bridge. A flat festoon cable, by contrast, is designed to fold and travel along a festoon track or C-rail, where the cable is supported by trolleys rather than by its own strength — flat profile matters there because it stacks cleanly in the festoon loop.
The second decision is core count and identification. A pendant station with more buttons needs more cores, and every additional function — two-speed hoist, bridge and trolley travel, warning horn, emergency stop — adds conductors. Because a miswired pendant is a safety problem, not just a commissioning delay, specify a core identification scheme up front: numbered cores or a distinct color sequence make the termination unambiguous at both ends. Core count, conductor size, voltage rating, and jacket material are all built to order here, so give us the pendant function list and we will size the construction around it.
Built for Repeated Movement
Flexible construction intended for cable that travels and flexes in service, not for fixed conduit runs.
Strain Relief Options
Steel support wire configurations take the hanging load so the copper conductors never carry tension.

Crane Pendant Cable FAQ
What is the difference between round pendant cable and flat festoon cable?
Round pendant cable has galvanized steel support wires inside the jacket so the cable can hang free and the steel carries the load instead of the copper conductors. Flat festoon cable has no support wire and is designed to fold along a festoon track or C-rail where trolleys carry the weight. Choose round for a free-hanging pendant station and flat for festoon-supported travel.
Why does crane pendant cable need a steel support wire?
A free-hanging pendant cable carries its own weight plus the pendant station in continuous tension. Without a support element that load transfers to the copper conductors, which stretches and eventually fractures the strands at the top of the run. The steel support wire takes the tension so the conductors only ever carry current.
How many cores can I specify?
Core count is customizable and sized to your pendant function list — hoist up and down, bridge and trolley travel, two-speed contacts, horn, and emergency stop each consume conductors. Send us the pendant station wiring diagram or the button layout and we will confirm the core count with you before production.
What voltage and temperature rating do you supply?
Both are built to specification rather than fixed to a single rating, because pendant cable is used across a wide range of control voltages and indoor and outdoor environments. Tell us the control voltage and the installation environment and we will confirm the rating and jacket material on the datasheet before you order.
Can you supply pendant cable to a custom OEM specification?
Yes. Core count, conductor size, voltage rating, jacket and insulation material, support wire configuration, and core identification are all made to order. We supply factory-direct on OEM specifications and can quote against your drawing or an existing sample.
