GN1000 is the premium tier, rated to 650°C, intended for the most demanding emergency systems - fire pumps, smoke extraction fans, emergency lighting, and elevator circuits - where even a brief loss of continuity during a fire event is unacceptable.

All three families use a mica glass fiber tape wrapped around the conductor beneath the outer insulation. The mica layer is what survives the flame: as the outer jacket burns away, the mica tape fuses into a continuous insulating barrier that keeps the conductor electrically isolated and the circuit operating. This is why fire-resistant cable is treated differently from standard flame-retardant cable in code - flame-retardant constructions limit fire spread, but they are not designed to keep carrying current once flames reach the conductor.
